Our hospital clients tell us that the biggest barrier they see to using pharmacy staffing services when they have a need is that the contract pharmacist is not trained on their software or their customizations. Previously, these hospitals had to utilize one of their own pharmacists to train the contract pharmacist; thereby losing production from both.
Jackson Pharmacy Professionals (JPP) is pleased to offer RxReady Pre-Assignment Pharmacy Software Training on the following pharmacy software systems prior to our contract pharmacists working at your facility:
Affinity Quadramed, Cerner PharmNet, IDX Carecast, Meditech Magic, Meditech Client Server, McKesson Horizon Meds Manager, McKesson Paragon Pharmacy, Epic
We offer (2) Levels of Competency:
- Basic Application Module Training which includes 3 – 5 hours remote training prior to the start of the contract assignment – included in the cost of our pharmacy staffing services.
- Hospital Specific Configuration includes the Basic Application Module Training plus an additional 2-4 hours of training on your hospitals configuration and customizations of the software – additional cost
Through remote connectivity technology, pharmacists and trainers gather in a virtual training session to remotely demonstrate, view, and gain experience in order entry and other basic functions on the hospital’s information systems. Incoming pharmacists will be well versed in institution specific application processes. Pharmacists arrive ready to process up to 80% of common order entry and other basic tasks, allowing existing staff to focus on the other critical responsibilities.
- Familiarity and Competence on Pharmacy Application Software — Thoroughly review application basics to include oral, injectable, and bulk medications; large volume and intermittent infusions; patient information, allergies, and essential lab data; MAR and label generation.
- Familiarity and Competence in Hospital’s Specific Modifications — Application setup varies greatly by hospital. Educate staff on specific application setup of sig/frequencies, batch/ordering types and formulary layout.
- Familiarity and Competence in Hospital’s Specific Practices — Each institution manages policies and practices that effect order entry and other basic tasks. Thoroughly review 39 areas in which hospitals commonly differ in order entry and administration such as Anticoagulants, Sliding Scale Insulins, CIWA/Banana bags, Electrolyte Replacement, Range Orders, RT Therapies, Patient Own Meds, and Non-Formulary Entry policies and practices.
